Meet Lucy
Hi, I’m Lucy: the person you’ll deal with from the first sketch to the final drawer.
I’m a qualified wood machinist with more than 25 years’ experience in cabinetry manufacturing, solid timber furniture and kitchen design. That hands-on background shapes how I design: with care for how your cabinetry looks, how it’s built and how it works in everyday life.
There’s no factory behind a big showroom door here. Cocina Design is my own business, and you’ll work directly with me throughout your project. I design and specify your cabinetry, working with a trusted network of manufacturers, suppliers, stonemasons and installers to bring it all together. I coordinate the process and see your project through to the final installation.

THE PROCESS
Concept to installation, start to finish
I’ll guide your project from the initial discussion and design through to installation and handover, with clear communication throughout.
Initial Consultation
We’ll start with a conversation about your project, your space, what you need and what you’d like to achieve. From there, I can explain the next steps and how I can help.
Design & Proposal
I’ll measure your space and develop an initial concept, considering how the cabinetry needs to look, function and work within your home. I’ll then present a free proposal outlining the scope and pricing, with 3D renders to help you visualise the result. A fee applies before any revisions begin and is credited towards your final cabinetry cost if you proceed with your project.
Material Selection
Together, we’ll select finishes, colours, benchtops and hardware to complement the design and your home.
Manufacture
Once the design and selections are finalised, your cabinetry is manufactured to specification using quality materials and hardware.
Installation & Handover
I coordinate the installation and finishing touches, checking the details and making sure everything comes together as planned.

What areas of Melbourne do you service?
I'm based in Melbourne's eastern suburbs and work on projects across greater Melbourne. For projects further afield, just get in touch and we can discuss what's involved.
How much does a custom kitchen cost?
Every project is different, so pricing depends on the size and scope of the cabinetry, materials, finishes and hardware selected. Once I understand your project and what you're looking to achieve, I can guide you through the options and provide clear pricing for the agreed scope.
How long does a typical project take?
Project timing can vary depending on the scope, design process, selections, manufacturing lead times and other trades involved. I’ll discuss timing with you throughout the design process and, once everything is finalised and ready to proceed, provide a clear programme for manufacture and installation.
Do you design and build other rooms, not just kitchens?
Absolutely. I design cabinetry throughout the home, including butler's pantries, laundries, bathrooms, wardrobes, living areas and home offices. I can work on a single space or coordinate cabinetry across a larger renovation.
Can you work with my existing builder or trades?
Yes. I'm very comfortable working alongside builders and other trades and can coordinate the cabinetry requirements with the people already involved in your project. Good communication between everyone makes the whole process run more smoothly.
When should I contact you about my renovation?
The earlier, the better. Cabinetry decisions can affect layouts, appliances, plumbing, electrical and other trades, so it's helpful to start the conversation while there's still flexibility in the project. You don't need to have every detail worked out before getting in touch.
Can you help with the design if I already have a cabinetmaker?
Absolutely. If you already have someone to manufacture your cabinetry, I can help you develop the layout, design, finishes and details, then provide plans and elevations they can work from. 3D renders can also help you visualise the finished space and make decisions before anything is made.
Do you do kitchen facelifts or modifications to existing cabinetry?
My focus is on complete new cabinetry, so I don’t offer kitchen facelifts, door replacements or small modifications to existing cabinets. If you’re planning a new kitchen or replacing your existing cabinetry in full, I’d love to help.
